We hope that this community will serve to revitalize characters that may have gone stale or sadly no longer appear due to show cancellations and such forth. This community is all about Reinvention, Renewal, and Reviving your passion for some of your favorite characters/actors by 'recasting' them in new ways and roles.
The personal 411 for this community:
Once a month or so we; being the moderators either by majority vote or preference will announce either a character or in some cases the actor/actress that plays them and will give you some general guidelines that you'll have to follow.
You will then have one month to come up with your entry for the challenge.
Here is a sample of what a challenge may look like:
Challenge Title: Dec/Jan 15 2007 challenge.
Character: Alternate Reality: No character assigned.
Actor: David Boreanaz
Date of challenge: Dec. 15- Jan. 15th midnight pacific standard time.
Requirements for this challenge: You must create a character for David Boreanaz to play on the TV show CSI: NY. This character will be re-occurring not a guest star so plan accordingly.
What your entry MAY include: You may choose to ship this character with anyone from the show at will. You may include references to other CSI franchises as long as the focus remains in the main show placement. The character may be a good guy, bad guy, witness, or victim, as you see fit.
What your entry may NOT include: The challenge is to create a NEW character role for David Boreanaz, so no using Angel or Seeley Booth, or any other recognizable part that he's played; this is a non-crossover challenge. The character must be a new original part and not an addendum to an episode that has aired for the show.

Once we have the challenge what do we do with it?
Once you've come up with your idea for the challenge, write up a short biography of the character as you see it. The who, when, why, where, ect. of the character, what motivates them and so forth.
Here's an example of what a writer may come up with:

Character Name: Benedict Ramsay
Role: Benedict Ramsay is an industrialist with ties to several shady ventures in South America. He has a tendency to 'misplace' wives and girlfriends with alarming regularity that has brought him to the attention of the NYPD but they've never had sufficient evidence to charge him with anything.
When Benedict's latest wife conveniently goes missing shortly after an embarrassing public confrontation, he is once again under investigation.

Please note that this is a VERY general biography and an actual entry would likely have far more detail to it but that should give you an idea.
For the artistic among our number, visual art IS an allowable entry but we encourage you to at least provide a minimal written biography with it to help people get a feel for your character.

We've posted our entry for the challenge. Now what?
At midnight of the deadline date, the moderators or assigned assistants, will gather all of the entries that have been posted and create a Master Post of all the entries which will then appear in the community journal and voting will begin. We're sorry but once this Master Post has appeared, no new entries will be permitted. You may of course still post your entry for review by the members but it will not be entered into the voting process.
The only exception to this is if it is moderator/assistant error and an entry that was posted (The date of the posts are handily all dated and timed when they're made.) prior to the deadline was accidentally missed. The mistake will be corrected immediately and the entry will be added to the content.

NOTE: Pure art entries will be judged in a separate category from pure written entries.
Entries that consist of both art and a written biography will be considered in the general pool of entries as a 'package deal'.
We do encourage you to include a picture of some sort; as that would help the members of the community to visualize your character/entry; but it isn't a requirement. If you would like to include some art but aren't artistically inclined you can always post a message to the community and ask for an artist to help you out. Just keep in mind that they may well be working on an entry themselves and may not always be able to help you. In that case we'd suggest seeing if you can find a picture of the actor that comes the closest to how you're visualizing them for your entry.

How long do we have to vote?
Voting will last for 2 weeks from Midnight on the deadline date and is marked by the appearance of the Voting Post.

How do I vote?
Voting in this community is simple. Just post a reply in the comment of the post and say I vote for you. Simple isn't it?
May we vote more than once?
You may if you wish but only one vote per person and per entry will count towards the total number of votes for that person. To clarify: If you vote for person A, B, and E and vote three times for person E; because you liked their entry THAT much; we'd only count the initial vote and discard the other two.

What if someone posts an idea like mine?
This could happen but given the fluidity of the challenges it is highly unlikely that we'd get duplicate entries but should it occur that we do get two ideas that are TOO alike, the entry that is posted first will be the one that is entered for the challenge.
The second entry will be removed and the creator encouraged to re-submit another entry. The moderators may choose to allow a 'grace period' extension if there are extenuating circumstances such as this and the community will be informed promptly. However please note that the extension ONLY applies to specific individuals; who will be listed; and is not open to other entries that missed the posted deadline.

Voting is over. Now what?
Votes will be counted and the winner, along with first, second, and third runners-up (If applicable) will be announced in the community. You will receive an award graphic that you may post as you wish to celebrate your accomplishment.
Winning art work will be turned into the graphic award for that challenge by the artist themselves or one of the staff artists if they are unavailable.

6: MODERATION IS ON THE WARNING SYSTEM. TWO WARNINGS AND WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE YOU FROM THE COMMUNITY. THESE WARNINGS ARE CONCURRENT IF YOU'RE REPEAT OFFENDING. IF WE WARN YOU TWICE ABOUT THE SAME **TYPE** OF BEHAVIOR YOU WILL BE SUBJECT TO THIS RULE.
7: OUTSIDE ADVERTISEMENTS ARE ALLOWED ONLY WITH PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE MODERATORS. Posts in violation of this rule will be removed promptly.
8: IN THE EVENT OF A TIE, A MAJORITY VOTE FROM THE MODERATORS WILL BREAK THE DEADLOCK. We will not have two winners, two first place, ect.
9: MODERATORS WILL REVIEW ALL ENTRIES TO ENSURE THEY MEET THE CHALLENGE QUALIFICATIONS. ENTRIES FOUND TO VIOLATE THE RULES WILL BE CONCEALED PENDING REVIEW AND MAY BE REMOVED AT OUR DISCRETION.
